Is this heaven?

Nope, just New Jersey in the spring.

And we are having a heat wave, which is, by far, my favorite kind of weather. I become energetic when others are melting. I also hibernate all winter. Anyhow this weekend it got hot and wonderful and we went to the New Jersey Folk Festival and the Rutgers Day festivities ( AKA Rutgerspalooza) and were vastly entertained by one of my long time idols- the wonderful Jean Ritchie . She was the first folk act signed on Elektra Records, way back before Joan Baez and that crowd and she is the real deal. She is now eighty seven years old and it was a honor to be able to listen to her sing and play the dulcimer live and in person.

And later on in the day we were lucky to observe a horse running a treadmill. Clearly not a sight one sees every day.

The Horse, who I suspect was just showing off, hit 30 miles an hour for our amusement. There was much ooing and ahhing , thankfully not followed by running and screaming ( although I was nervous there for a moment).

We had a swell time visiting with the eldest child as well at her very own soon to be ex-house, which is nicer than our house.
She had a cold so I got some maternal Swine Flu fretting in. Her friends, who are delightful, hung out with us and we all ate burritos. Good times.

Lizzie and I were talking about it the other day... a replay of the mommy daughter camping trip we did when she was in high school. Perhaps I could get Becca to come as well!

Beautiful pic. Are those Redbuds? Mine just finished flowering and are now leafing out. 87? Amazing!

A treadmill horse would be just the horse for me, because if I fell off, it wouldn't hurt nearly so much as if the horse were actually moving.

Ok, you just gave me the BIGGEST laugh of the night-- just read your comment from Cristin's blog about the Bruce the Rooster. And I agree that geese are mean SOBs!!!! :) I also love that you said you are atheist. I am a disgusted Catholic who actually somehow believes in God still, but I appreciate ALL points of view and think it's great that you don't hide your opinions. Thanks!!!

Snowbrush- the horse could still kick you a bit- I am not sure treadmilling horsies would be the solution. Perhaps a hobby horse? Those seem rather harmless - although I bet one could trip over the stick.......

Girlland- That rooster was terrifying. 35 years later I still have PTSD. ;-)

Star' Rest- you have a gorgeous blog . And thank *you* for the visit!

Ronda- I think that's a cherry tree or some manner of Dogwood. In NJ you can be pretty sure it is one or the other!

Cristin, I deleted it. It was ugly.
