My Kid Went To Africa and All I Got..

was an addiction to yet another science fiction show. My eldest went to Kenya to study primates this summer. She spent a month living in a tent in a wildlife preserve.  She was out of range of phones, computers , and all that cool techy stuff that allow me to be the hover mother that I  strive to be. I try not to be too intrusive and embarrassing ( well intrusive at least, I consider it my  sacred duty to be embarrassing), but it is nice to be able to get a text every couple of days to reassure me that the kids have not been abducted by aliens or eaten by lions. This was impossible for one month.  I worried. I considered drinking heavily but I am trying to lose weight so I turned to my drug of choice -science fiction -and promptly became addicted to the new Dr. Who series that has, of course, just about ended ( I am always a bit late to the party it seems).  I was a Who fan way back in the distant 80s when a former teenaged client made me watch it. That was back when it starred Tom Baker, he of the very long scarves. Now it stars David Tennant, with whom I have fallen hopelessly in love. It's sad , but true. And I want a Tardis toy for Christmas. Or better yet a real Tardis with which I will travel back in time to be young enough to fall in love with now 37 year old TV star who wouldn't have even be born yet or at best would be a toddler and that is just so wrong .

Drinking heavily seems to work for me. Not so much with the science fiction.

I like a combo, and maybe a little script for Ativan or the like.

have you tried drinking while watching science fiction? That might work...
