God

So tomorrow night I am going to see this man and his friends:

I figure if he can still play for two and a half hours at his age, then I can go and watch him at my age. After all I am a full two years younger than he is.
I wasn't always in love with Bruce Springsteen. In fact I resisted very strongly when he first appeared on the scene. I had given up on rock n' roll because it had become so overproduced and had lost ...well...everything that made it rock and roll. I did remain true to The Grateful Dead ( it's genetic) but mainly I listened to nothing but bluegrass, jazz , classics and ancient folk songs. Then my friend Gary , music business guru, AKA -He Who Knows All, proceeded to give me Bruce Lessons ( he called them Springsteen Seminars) back in 1977 and I fell in love. Then Gary took me to my first Bruce show ( 1978 Berkeley Community Theater in Berkeley, Ca) and I fell deeply in love. My faith in the power of rock and roll was restored. I never lost it again.
I have seen Mr. Springsteen live somewhere betwixt 40 and 50 times- the last time was a solo appearance at an Obama rally in Philly. Tomorrow night he will be playing with the band in Hershey, Pa. It's been a long fun ride with Mr. Springsteen . I need to drop in on him to make sure I haven't lost the ability to rock in my dotage. I will report back on just how much I am able to do the aforementioned rockage. Gary's taking me.

Have fun at Church. Give him a big smoochie from me. I love him so.

I will be the chubby lady throwing myself on the stage to deliver said smoochie.

The advantage of wearing the large sized, white cotton Hane's panties is that it is easier to mark one's territory with the on-stage toss. I am experiencing Rock Envy. Awaiting your next report, R

I admit, the title of this post made me wonder what was coming. So you're road-trippin' all the way up to Hershey? That IS devotion!

(Funny thing: I have two girl friends. One is a Bruce fan, one is a Dead fan. Me? I'm the folk music girl!)

Also, laughing my head off at Ronda Laveen's cooment about giant undies - I never really looked at it like that, Ronda!

I am so jealous. You know that I am a fellow worshiper at the Church of Springsteen.... Enjoy... Enjoy... Enjoy... I have missed the last two tours/legs - the last show I saw was Danny's last in Boston - not a bad one to be the last one if you had to pick. I'm hoping to catch something the next round. Throw him a big smoochie for me!

please come and say hello to her-maybe we can get her to come back like blogging. Kind of like bringing a box of wine to the intervention.
