Because I am , in fact, a bit of a geek....

..and major science fiction fan since I first saw the original Day The Earth Stood Still on TV when I was about eight, I have to comment, at this juncture, THAT......last night's episode of Battlestar Galactica had me screaming at the television set - in a good way. Good adult science fiction that does what good SF should do- comment on universal themes whilst blowing one's mind with fascinating ideas-is rare. BSG is very good science fiction indeed. My only objection to what has been a brilliant piece of television for the past few years, is that there are only seven more episodes before it all ends. What a great ride. Fabulous characters, brilliant allegory, incredible acting. Mary Mc Donnell and Edward James Olmos continue to do some of the best work of their careers and continue to be essentially ignored for this work because no one takes Science Fiction seriously. Curses on the mainstream world! A pox upon you and your dumb crime shows and doctor shows and ....all that boring crap. This is good stuff. Makes me proud to be a nerd.
For those of you out there who haven't seen this show and think you might be interested... I highly recommend starting at the beginning with the mini series and watching it all on DVD. Do NOT watch these last episodes until you watch all of the previous stuff. And do not let anyone tell you what happens. This is essentially a very long novel- like LOST except a zillion times better.

I am way too old to get excited about such stuff. Aren't I?

Muffy is hogging all the sci fi genes in this family....It does indeed sound good, and maybe after I'm committed, I'll get the whole thing on DVD and watch it from start to finish.

We have it all on DVD. When the planets align, we will start watching. I'm actually looking forward to it. I am a geek. Also.

Although Muffy does have considerably more sci-fi genes than I. She also got the genes for flawless skin, silky hair and big boobs too.

The crazy thing is that mainstream TV people don't acknowlege the massive amounts of fans and turnouts for Star Trek, Star Wars....maybe you should start a letter writing campaign so that they will include SciFi in their awards!!
